Roxanne: Grade 7
My Life in Libya
Hallo!!!! My name is Roxanne. I am 15 y ears old, that makes my the oldest at the school- My home country is the Netherlands, we lived for 12 years in the city of Maassluis before we moved to Libya. I always thought Libya was a terrible place, but now I think it is better than the Netherlands. Sure, there are no girls my age at school, but the boys are nice also. I am in the same class room with Johannes who is in Grade 8. Although I am 3 months older I am in grade 7, as I did not speak any German in the beginning. Johannes and I have a lot of fun with our teacher Miss Wagner. When school finishes at 13.10 I take the bus home, have something to eat and do my homework. Round 17.00 I go to the stables to visit my horse "Farousche" and meet my Italian girlfriend Isabella. Libya is different. In the long and hot summer we swim a lot. The countryside is totally different as well, there are no oak trees, or beeches, there are some firs, but therefore many many palm trees. The country also has a lot of desert land. The traffic is also different; people drive very fast without looking out for others. My dad already has two accidents. Luckily he was not hurt. When you dive into town you get to see cut off camel and or cows heads hanging outside of shops. This means that you can buy fresh meat there. In the few years here I have experienced more than in the Netherlands. I look forward to spend even more time in Libya.
